Erik Ustad
Portfolio Manager
Hometown: Vermillion, SD
Education: University of South Dakota
I grew up in Vermillion and earned my bachelor’s in finance from USD, where I took part in a student organization that involved working with real money and making real investment decisions. I had always been interested in investing, but that experience truly fostered my passion for the industry.
After working elsewhere in the banking industry for a couple of years, I joined First National Wealth Management in 2017 as an Investment Analyst. I moved into my current role as a Portfolio Manager in 2021.
My favorite part of managing investment portfolios is helping our clients push through some of the more challenging aspects of investing and saving to achieve their financial goals.
I recently earned my Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation, and I look forward to using my experience to help customize the best portfolio for you and your needs.
Away from the office, you can find me volunteering with Rake the Town, serving on the Lutheran Social Services Foundation Board of Directors, or doing any number of outside activities — golfing, running, and biking, in particular. However, my favorite way to spend my free time is with my wife and our young son, whom we welcomed in 2021!
