FNB Family Friday

Sara Baus

Each week, we’ll be showing you who we are through FNB Family Fridays! We’ve asked our friends and teammates questions that will give you a look into what they do at the Bank, their hobbies outside of work, and some of their favorite things. Be sure to check back here every Friday to read about another featured team member. We have some interesting people we work with every day!

Our featured employee this week is one of our Personal Trust Account Officers, Sara Baus!

Q: Tell us about your background. Where you grew up, where you went to school, industry experience, and volunteer work (if applicable).

I was born and raised in Sioux Falls and attended Augustana University, majoring in English and journalism. From there, I went to law school at the University of South Dakota. After law school, I moved to Lincoln, NE, and practiced law at a law firm and then worked for the Nebraska State Bar Association. I missed Sioux Falls, though, so I found my way back and worked for the University of South Dakota Foundation. I joined the FNB family almost a year and a half ago and I haven’t looked back! My main volunteer activity is serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), working with children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

Q: What is your role at FNB? What does your day-to-day work look like?

I am a Personal Trust Officer in the Wealth Management department. One of my favorite things about this line of work is that every day is different, but in general, my days are spent administering my portfolio of accounts and working with clients to help them meet their financial goals.

Q: What do you like most about working at FNB?

I love how my coworkers have a passion for helping our clients and each other. Everyone is truly happy to come to work each day.

Q: How would you describe the culture of FNB to a prospective employee?

While we take our responsibilities very seriously, we also know how to have fun and keep a good work/life balance.

Q: When you’re not working at the Bank, what can people find you doing? What are some of your hobbies or interests?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, taking my dog for long walks, reading, golfing (poorly), and taking weekend trips out to the Black Hills to hike and relax.

Q: Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

London and Paris. I’d love to go back to Europe and explore some other cities and countries. The architecture and history is so interesting.
