FNB Family Friday

Alex Haverly

Each week we’ll be showing you who we are through FNB Family Fridays! We’ve asked our friends and teammates questions that will give you a look into what they do at the Bank, their hobbies outside of work, and some of their favorite things. Be sure to check back here every Friday to read about another featured team member. We have some interesting people we work with every day!

Our featured employee this week is our Business Solutions Cash Management Specialist, Alex Haverly!

Q: Tell us about your background. Where you grew up, where you went to school, industry experience, and volunteer work (if applicable).

I was born and raised here in Sioux Falls, where I attended O’Gorman High School. Upon my graduation, I moved to Vermillion, SD, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance and a Master’s in Business Administration, both from USD. When I’m not at work, I like to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, the El Riad Shrine as a Roadrunner, and Lifescape.

Q: What is your role at FNB? What does your day-to-day work look like?

I work as the Cash Management Specialist here at FNB. This position allows me to connect with new and existing businesses on opening accounts, how they accept payments, and disburse funds to employees and vendors. My primary focus is credit card processing and business credit cards, but I also help with our online banking platform. My day-to-day work varies from setting up accounts in the office to meeting face-to-face with customers to troubleshoot.

Q: What do you like most about working at FNB?

My favorite part of working at FNB is the opportunity to interact with our customers. Through this, I have been able to learn about the businesses in our community, how they got started, and challenges they face. Each day is incredibly rewarding.

Q: How would you describe the culture of FNB to a prospective employee?

FNB culture can be best described as “We Build Successful Relationships.” Growing with the Bank the past three and a half years, I have had the opportunity to develop relationships with our customers and my coworkers. There has never been a time where I was fearful to ask for assistance from fellow employees. Each of our customers is not just a customer, but a family member, friend, or local community member. We are able to maintain successful relationships both in and out of a business setting, which leaves a lasting impression on our customers and reputation.

Q: When you’re not working at the Bank, what can people find you doing? What are some of your hobbies or interests?

I try to keep busy outside of work. You can find me out hunting pheasants and deer with my dad, kayaking at the lake, attempting to master the game of golf at our local courses, staying active at the gym, and, as of recently, attempting to perfect new recipes on my smoker. When the weather gets colder, I like to work on computers, visit local establishments with friends, and enjoy the occasional Netflix binge.

Q: Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

My favorite trip I have taken was to Paris, France, when I graduated high school with my family. We were able to attend the Paris Auto Show, Paris Fashion Week (for my sister), and take in so many historical sites. It was so great to experience so many of these places and events with my family.
