Zelle discontinues transactions through its standalone app

April 1, 2025

If you currently use Zelle as a person-to-person payment option, we would like to remind you of an important update regarding their service.

Beginning Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Zelle is removing the ability for users to send or receive money through their standalone mobile app.

We assure you that this was Zelle’s decision and not one we would make without first providing our customers with a suitable replacement.

We understand that Zelle has been a convenient way for you to send money, and we want to assure you that we are committed to supporting you when finding an alternative person-to-person payment option.

Current Zelle alternatives

Many of our customers are already using free Zelle alternatives such as Venmo, Cash App, and Apple Cash. These person-to-person payment options allow you to move money safely and in real time.

For those who prefer to use a more traditional approach, ACH and wire transfers provide a convenient way to transfer funds.

The future of person-to-person payment options

Just like many other banks, we are currently assessing our real-time and person-to-person payment options to determine what is most secure, efficient, and beneficial for both our customers and our organization.

You’ll be notified of new payment options and services as they become available.

Despite these changes to the Zelle service, we’re excited about the future of person-to-person payments and are here to ensure a smooth transition for your financial needs. If you have any questions or need assistance with alternate payment services, please reach out to us at (605) 335-5200 or 800 339-1160.
