Sam is the newest member of FNB’s Ag Banking team at our Flandreau Branch. He has a degree in agribusiness from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and currently lives in Volga with his wife, Mallory, and their children, Hayden, Cora, and West.
After growing up in a farming family, he made the move from farming to ag banking to help producers with their financial needs. With a wide variety of experience in the ag industry, he’s excited to build long-lasting relationships with local farmers.
Q: What is your role at FNB? What does your day-to-day work look like?
I am an Ag Banker at FNB’s Flandreau Branch. My day-to-day work varies from the being at the Bank, on the road, or at a customer’s farm talking with the customer and investing in them.
Q: What do you like most about working at FNB?
I love the people and the energy we have at FNBSF, along with the Bank’s FIRST Values.
Q: How would you describe the culture of FNB to a prospective employee?
The employees and coworkers are fun and are always ready to help each other. I love that our Bank puts others first. I recently had an opportunity to help a farm family after a loss and the Bank offered me VTO (Volunteer Time Off) to spend helping this family. Not every company has these awesome benefits. In my short time here I’ve already seen how much FNBSF cares about people.
Q: When you’re not working at the Bank, what can people find you doing? What are some of your hobbies or interests?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, doing just about anything outside or on an adventure. I also love flying. I obtained my pilot’s license in 2016 and I try to get out at least once every two weeks to fly around locally and or cross country. I also enjoy snowmobiling, four wheeling, and hanging out with friends around a camp fire.
Q: Where is the best place you’ve traveled to?
My top three trips have been Hawaii, the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming, and the Black Hills.
