FNB Family Friday

Adam Cox

Each week, we’ll be showing you who we are through FNB Family Fridays! We’ve asked our friends and teammates questions that will give you a look into what they do at the Bank, their hobbies outside of work, and some of their favorite things. Be sure to check back here every Friday to read about another featured team member. We have some interesting people we work with every day!

This week we’re highlighting our Chief Wealth Management Officer, Adam Cox.

“I get to work with the best wealth management team in the region. Their professionalism and commitment to their clients inspires me each and every day. It’s really something to be a part of that.”

Adam was born in Presho, South Dakota, where his parents farmed and eventually moved to Sioux Falls when he was young. After high school, he earned his degree in Business from USD, his law degree from the University of St. Thomas, and an M.B.A from the University of Notre Dame.

He has devoted his entire professional career to the trust and investment fields. In early 2016, he joined the Bank family to lead our Wealth Management team.

Q: Why did you choose to work at FNB?

A: I chose to work at First National because of the way they treated me as a customer growing up and, in turn, the profound impact those experiences had on my career path. Getting the opportunity to work here brings everything full-circle for me; it’s like coming home.

Q: What might someone be surprised to learn about you?

A: I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I absolutely love Hallmark movies. They lack drama, are utterly predictable, and always have a happy ending. I’ve oddly grown to appreciate those qualities given the constant drama in our day-to-day lives.

Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?

A: One of my mentors always told me that the keys to success were (1) the background to know, (2) the vision to see, and (3) the will to do. I’ve never forgotten that advice and it has been the cornerstone for my career.
