History
The First National Bank in Sioux Falls began its long-term commitment to the Sioux Falls area in 1885. The oldest bank in Sioux Falls owes its longevity to a combination of service, stability, innovation and family involvement.

As the community grew in the early 1900s, customers visited the Bank’s 10th and Phillips location. In 1929, First National Bank moved its offices to 112 South Phillips Avenue. The building was topped by the First National limestone eagle, which over the years has become a downtown Sioux Falls landmark. First National Bank stood behind Sioux Falls during the depression years, one of only two banks to survive, and helped fuel the post-war boom of the late 1940s and 1950s.

In 1976, the Bank’s current main office facility was constructed at the corner of Phillips Avenue and Ninth Street in the very heart of Sioux Falls.

Community Commitment
Over the last 120 years, First National Bank has worked diligently to promote the growth and vitality of Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. The Bank strives to continually be recognized as a community leader by reinvesting financial resources back into the communities it serves and encouraging active employee involvement in community volunteer organizations.

Looking to the Future
First National Bank strives to meet the changing needs of local residents by offering a full range of financial services. The bank continues to enhance its Internet banking capabilities as well as develop new bank card technologies and innovative commercial banking and cash management products. It also operates The Advantage Network which is the largest South Dakota based ATM network.

The First National Bank in Sioux Falls retains its 120-year commitment to be the principal locally owned, independent community bank in Sioux Falls and the communities it serves in the upper Midwest. Over the last 20 years, every bank in Sioux Falls has either been bought, sold, changed its name, left or re-entered the market – except one – The First National Bank in Sioux Falls.
